Content Guidelines

Rules for responsible posting on LaserMark DB.

What we remove

  • Spam — Repetitive, promotional, or irrelevant content. Repeated identical posts will be removed and may result in account restrictions.
  • Harassment — Personal attacks, threats, or abusive language directed at other users. This is a zero-tolerance category and is not eligible for appeal.
  • Misinformation — Technically incorrect information that could mislead users, particularly around laser safety settings or machine specs.
  • Off-topic — Posts unrelated to laser cutting, engraving, or the LaserMark DB community.
  • Guideline violation — Other content that violates our community standards, including low-effort posts and content that adds no value to the discussion.

How appeals work

When a moderator removes your content, you may appeal if the removal reason is eligible. To submit a successful appeal:

  • Select an accurate appeal reason — don't select "I've addressed the issue" if you haven't changed anything.
  • Provide a note explaining why the content should be restored, especially when claiming the wrong rule was applied.
  • If the issue was fixable, edit the content to address it before appealing.

Appeals submitted without changes or explanation are automatically denied by the system. You have two attempts per removal. After two unsuccessful appeals, the content is queued for permanent removal and no further appeals are accepted.

Consequences for repeated violations

Strike level Effect
2 strikesNew posts held for moderator review before going public
3 strikesFuture appeals auto-denied without review
5 strikesContent creation rate-limited
7+ strikesAccount flagged for ban review

Strikes decrease by 1 after 90 days of good standing. An approved appeal removes 1 strike.

If you believe a removal was made in error and your self-service appeals have been exhausted, contact a moderator directly via the messaging system. Provide the content link and a clear explanation of why you believe the removal was incorrect.
